A child was wounded in the city of Kaspiisk in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan after hitting a mine, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
"According to preliminary information, the explosive device was disguised as a pack of juice. When the 10-year old boy kicked the pack lying on the ground, an explosion occurred," the spokesman said.
The boy was hospitalized with fragmentation wounds, the spokesman said.
Sporadic attacks on troops and police officials, and also bomb blasts are common in Russia's southern mainly Muslim republics in the North Caucasus, especially Dagestan, Chechnya, and Ingushetia.
