The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, may take part in the international forum Russia Is A Sports Power which will be held in Moscow from July 29 to August 1, the head of the capital’s department of physical education and sports said on Wednesday.
“The president of the IOC may agree to attend the forum, according to preliminary information,” Mikhail Stepanyants said.
The purpose of the forum is the development of Olympic ideals, support of international cooperation in sports, the promotion of healthy life-styles and anti-doping measures.
Celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Summer Olympics-1980 will be among the highlights of the forum. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, Russian sports stars and culture figures are expected to attend the celebrations.
