Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in Milan for talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in Milan for talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Medvedev and Berlusconi will discuss, among other topics, issues related to Russia's relations with NATO and the EU, energy security, and the development of bilateral trade and economic relations.

European security is also likely to be a focus of the talks.

Medvedev proposed drawing up a new European security pact in June 2008, and Russia published a draft of the treaty in December 2009, sending copies to heads of state and international organizations, including NATO.

This is the third meeting between Medvedev and Berlusconi in the past eight months. The Russian and Italian leaders met in December 2009 in Rome and in June this year in the Canadian city of Huntsville during the G8 summit.

During the visit, Medvedev will be taken on a tour of Milan. A press-conference on results of the talks will be given by the two leaders before the Russian president's departure.
