Russia and NATO are discussing the possible delivery of 27 Mi-17 helicopters to Afghanistan, NATO Military Committee Chairman Giampaolo di Paola said on Friday.
Russia's position is not yet clear, and there is much discussion ahead, di Paola said.
Russia's proposal was to deliver first three helicopters for free, to be followed by another 24 helicopters, he said.
Earlier this week, Russia's state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport said it would compete for a U.S. tender to deliver Mi-17 helicopters to Afghanistan.
