A Russian government sub-commission recommended on Tuesday that zero import duties on wide-body airliners that are not manufactured in Russia be maintained.
The sub-commission on customs and tariff regulation and protectionist measures in foreign trade, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov, also proposed that zero customs duties be applied to aircraft with an empty weight of 90 tons to 120 tons.
Zero customs duties are currently applied to aircraft with seating capacity of under 50 and over 300. Such aircraft are not produced in Russia on a mass scale.
At its previous meeting, the sub-commission also approved a proposal that the same customs duties be extended to airliners that carry fewer than 250 passengers.
The Airbus Russia mission told RIA Novosti that none of the planes it builds falls under these specifications.
Boeing Russia PR Director Dmitry Khrol acknowledged Boeing 767s and Boeing 787s meet these requirements.
