Russia's national development bank Vnesheconombank (VEB) will allocate an additional 900 million rubles ($29.7 million) for the reconstruction of an international airport in the Far East city of Vladivostok, VEB head Vladimir Dmitriyev has said.
The airport, located 44 km (27 miles) outside Vladivostok, is being reconstructed on the brink of an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be held on Russky Island, south of Vladivostok, in 2012.
Dmitriyev told reporters on Wednesday that the bank had already allocated 440 million rubles ($14.5 million) for the project and provided the airport with a loan of 600 million rubles ($19.8 million).
After the reconstruction, the airport's capacity should increase to 4-5 million passengers a year.
