Russian runner Maria Savinova won gold in the women's 800 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona on Friday.
The 2010 World indoor champion and 2009 European indoor champion from Russia finished the final sprint in Spain with the result of 1 minute 58.22 seconds.
She was followed by Yvonne Hak of the Netherlands, who took the silver with the result of 1 minute 58.85 seconds. The bronze went to Britain's Jennifer Meadows (1:59.39).
The Russian team has won eight gold, five silver and six bronze medals at the championships so far.
