Renowned 3D street artist Edgar Mueller is offering Muscovites an unusual way of combating the heat. He painted a rushing waterfall on the pavement. The illusion the artist created helps people find some imaginary escape from Moscow’s heat, transporting them to somewhere cooler, near water.
This painting of a rushing waterfall appeared by a large shopping mall in south-western Moscow. To see the picture in 3-D, you need to look at it through a special lens that has been set up here. It distorts the perspective, making the picture three-dimensional.
Colleagues and critics respectfully refer to the German master of illusions as “maestro madonnari” – a master street painter. Only a handful of artists have earned this title. However, Edgar Mueller has never studied painting nor has he ever attended art school or special courses.
