Israel will not be the first state to attack Iran, because such an act would make it an enemy of all nuclear powers, Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro said in his Reflections column on the Cuba Debate website.

Israel will not be the first state to attack Iran, because such an act would make it an enemy of all nuclear powers, Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro said in his Reflections column on the Cuba Debate website.

Earlier the Western press reported that several former CIA officers had warned U.S. President Barack Obama of a possible Israeli attack on Iran.

"The former CIA officers...are right in warning Obama that the Israeli prime minister is planning a surprise attack to force the United States into war with Iran," Castro said.

"[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu would not dare to be the first to do that [attack Iran] because such a move would make him an enemy of all nuclear powers, and he is not stupid," he added.

He said Iran's enemies are in an absurd situation in which war is one of the few remaining options.

Castro has said on several occasions that U.S. and Israeli policies on Iran could lead to nuclear war.

On Saturday, Castro called on the U.S. president to avoid military confrontation with Iran during his landmark speech in the Cuban parliament.

The Cuban leader, who has rarely been seen in public since ceding power to his younger brother in 2008, has made a series of public appearances this summer.
