Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the Krasny Desant (Red Paratrooper) summer camp in the Rostov Region, where children, including from regions hit by wildfires, can relax and have fun.
The president asked some kids from Voronezh how they are spending their time at the camp and how the food is.
The children gave him a Red Paratrooper neckerchief with the colors of the Russian flag.
They told the president how they’ve been playing soccer, dancing at discotheques, and swimming in a nearby inlet. “Be careful, swimming can be dangerous,” he warned.
Opened in 1994, the camp accommodates 5,000 children a year, 3,400 of them during its four summer sessions. There are currently 800 children at the camp, 87 of them from an orphanage for children with disabilities and health problems, located in a village outside Voronezh that was destroyed by wildfire. Medvedev later visited the Priazovye cooperative farm with Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik and Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev.
