Ukraine has signed an agreement with Russia on the purchase of a 10% stake in an international uranium enrichment center in Siberia, Ukraine's Nuclear Fuel state-controlled concern said on Thursday.
The purchase will be finalized in October after Ukraine pays for the stake.
In May 2007, Russia and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on the establishment of a uranium enrichment center in Angarsk, 120 km from Lake Baikal, to enable countries, including Iran, to develop civilian nuclear technology without having to conduct their own enrichment activities.
The Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency Rosatom offered Ukraine a stake in Angarsk in September 2007.
The center is due to go into operation in 2013.
