The number of people evacuated over the threat of floods from the swollen Yalu River in northeast China's Liaoning Province has reached 94,000, local media reported on Sunday.
Heavy rains hit Dandong City on China's border with North Korea on Saturday, causing floods around the area. Four people died in the floods and one person was missing after the swollen Yalu River flooded parts of Dandong, the media reported.
Heavy rains will continue in northeastern China through Sunday, meteorologists said.
Meanwhile, the death toll from rain-triggered mudslides in northwest China's Gansu Province has risen to 1,434, while some 330 are still missing, Xinhua news agency said.
Official data states that at least 1,250 people were rescued after the mountainous region was devastated by mudslides two weeks ago.
In Gansu, the mudslides tore down entire apartment blocks, and buried houses and streets under deep layers of mud.
