Russia and China on Sunday signed an agreement for setting up trans-border wildlife reserve to save endangered populations of Siberian tigers and Amur leopards.
The agreement was sealed in northwestern China. Under the undertaking, the parties agreed to step up information exchange, synchronize monitoring over the populations of these animals as well as stage joint research work and prevent illegal hunting for tiger and leopard.
The population of Siberian tiger numbers some 500 animals, 20 of them live in China, according to the WWF.
The reached agreement is an important step on the road of increasing the population of wild tigers by 2022.
