On August 18, 2010 the authorities in Moscow decided to limit the sales of alcohol at night. These measures are already in force in a number of Russian regions.
Thus, for example, almost all big supermarkets in Stavropol, south Russia, have introduced a special system at cashier desks that blocks the sales of strong alcohol drinks in the evening and at night in line with the governmental decree.
In Moscow, the time period when strong alcohol beverages are banned for sale will be extended from September 1 by three hours – from 22.00 to 10.00. After introducing a curfew for strong spirits, the Moscow authorities are looking at limiting the sales of beer.
