U.S. President Barack Obama will meet for talks with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on September 7 in Washington, the White House press service reported.
"As part of the President's ongoing consultations with allies about our global agenda, the two leaders will discuss NATO's role in advancing our shared interests in Europe and beyond, including through the International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan," the statement from the White House said.
The statement also said that Obama and Rasmussen are set to discuss preparations for an upcoming 2010 NATO summit, slated for November 19-20 in Portugal's Lisbon.
Rasmussen, the former Danish premier, replaced his Dutch predecessor Jaap de Hoop Scheffer on August 1, 2009 as NATO's 12th secretary-general.
