The World Political Forum in Yaroslavl that is to focus on modernizing Russia’s economy will become a positive signal for both Russian and foreign investors, an expert said.
The forum “The Modern State: Standards of Democracy and Criteria of Efficiency” will be held in Yaroslavl, 250 km northeast of Moscow, on September 9-10 for the second time.
In 2009, the forum focused on global security and was attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, French and Spanish premiers Francois Fillon and Jose Rodriguez Zapatero and more than 500 public figures, experts and business representatives from 20 countries.
“The modernization of the Russian economy, innovations, and the role of high technologies in global economic processes are the highlights of the forthcoming forum,” said Sergei Polyakov, who heads the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises.
Polyakov said the Yaroslavl forum has become an important political event. “I think each year more participants will arrive and the scale of the forum will be extended. I am sure that the Yaroslavl forum has very good prospects.”
