On Wednesday evening, wildfires crossed the Russian-Kazakh border and began to spread over the Altai Territory and the Novosibirsk Region. The firefighters of the latter managed to bring the fire under control, however others raged on.
The village of Nikolayevka was almost completely burned down (334 out of 443 houses were destroyed and 1,166 people evacuated), the village of Bastan has been partially destroyed.
During the night, a few more villages were under threat. According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s information service, the fires currently pose no threat to populated areas of the Altai Territory.
