At least 15 people were killed and more than a dozen injured on Thursday in a blast at a market in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia's North Caucasus republic of North Ossetia.

A spokesman for investigators said the power of the explosive device was equivalent to 30-40 kg of TNT.

The bomb was detonated by a suicide bomber.
"The crisis center in the republic of North Ossetia-Alania is coordinating the activity of the emergency services, security forces and law enforcement forces aimed to prevent the possibility of new blasts," an Anti-terrorism Committee statement said.
According to the committee, the blast occurred at 11:22 Moscow time (08:22 GMT) at the Vladikavkaz city market.
North Ossetian investigators have already qualified the blast as a terrorist attack.
The market has seen two terrorist attacks in the past.
