Seven days in photographs, September 4-10

On Thursday, September 9, the World political forum "The Modern State: Standards of Democracy and Criteria of Efficiency" opened in Yaroslavl, 250 km northeast of Moscow. About 500 Russian and foreign participants and 500 journalists are attending the forum this year.

On September 7, the seventh Valdai International Discussion Club meeting finished. More than 50 foreign specialists and 30 Russians attended it.

The further development of Russia and its relations with a number of other countries were discussed during the meeting.

Wildfires raged in Siberia. On Wednesday evening, wildfires crossed the Russian-Kazakh border and began to spread over the Altai Territory and the Novosibirsk Region. The firefighters of the latter managed to bring the fires under control, however others raged on as the situation was complicated by high winds.

The wildfires in the Altai Territory destroyed 330 buildings. According to most recent official figures, two fires are still burning in the Mikhailovsky district, but they pose no threat to populated areas.

The last weekend, on September 4-5, Moscow celebrated its 863rd birthday.

As part of Moscow City Day celebration, the Spasskaya Tower international military music festival was held in Moscow. The Bahrain Royal Police Band played the famous Russian song Katyusha.
