Hearings into Moscow's extradition request for telecoms entrepreneur Yevgeny Chichvarkin will be held in March 2011, a London judge said on Monday.

Chichvarkin, ex-CEO of cell phone retailer Euroset, is wanted in Russia on charges of kidnapping and blackmail.

The Westminster Magistrates Court has already adjourned the date for hearings into Chichvarkin's extradition several times.

The hearings will commence on March 21, 2011, and last for five days, Judge Quentin Purdy said.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office issued an extradition request for Chichvarkin in June 2009, six months after he fled Russia.

Chichvarkin and several other high-profile Russian exiles staged an unprecedented opposition rally outside the Russian Embassy in London on August 31, making Russia's "Strategy-31" opposition movement global, as similar demonstrations were held in New York, Helsinki, Berlin and Tel Aviv.

They came out to show solidarity with the "31-ers," as they are known, said Andrei Sidelnikov, organizer of the London picket, and to protest against Russia increasingly "turning into a political state."
