The Russian Prosecutor General's Office said on Friday it was ready to provide Boris Berezovsky with "exhaustive information" on hundreds of millions of dollars the fugitive tycoon allegedly stole from Russia.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office said on Friday it was ready to provide Boris Berezovsky with "exhaustive information" on hundreds of millions of dollars the fugitive tycoon allegedly stole from Russia.

Prosecutor General Yury Chaika demanded on Wednesday that Berezovsky return assets worth more than 300 million pounds ($465 million) recently uncovered by Russian prosecutors.

Following the accusation, Berezovsky challenged prosecutors to specify where the assets were "hidden."

"I never tell anyone about my foreign assets exactly because they pursue these assets. But they [the prosecutors] have nothing to hide, let them show [where the assets are]," he said in an interview with BBC Russia.

A spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General's Office said on Friday that Berezovsky, who has been living in Britain as a political refugee for a decade, was always welcome to come to Russia to get details.

"If the suspect Berezovsky has forgotten where he hid the millions stolen from Russia, he can come to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office any time and get exhaustive information," Marina Gridneva said.

"He will also have an opportunity to testify on the circumstances of his crimes," she added.

She also said that allegations that Berezovsky is being pursued for political reasons were "intended for uninformed simpletons" and were "absolutely groundless."

Five criminal probes have been launched in Russia against the oligarch, the Prosecutor General's Office said, including cases on the organization of criminal groups, fraud and money-laundering.

Berezovsky has been sentenced in absentia to six years in prison for embezzling funds from Aeroflot, and on Tuesday Russia's flagship air carrier received $52 million embezzled by Berezovsky in 1996-1999 that had been frozen in Swiss bank accounts.

Berezovsky has also been sentenced in absentia to 13 years in prison after being found guilty of embezzling some 60 million rubles ($1.9 million at current rates) from the AutoVAZ car plant in 1994.
