Prosecutors have launched a criminal probe against a street racer who hit a group of pedestrians in south Moscow, killing one and injuring five people, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
A Nissan car, apparently taking part in a street race, ploughed into a group of pedestrians in Moscow's Tsaritsino district early on Sunday. The racer escaped from the scene of the incident but was detained by a police patrol car later, the police spokesman said.
The criminal case was opened on the charges of violation of traffic rules. If convicted, the racer faces up to seven years in prison, the police spokesman said.
