Carrier pigeons delivered flash drives at a distance of 193 kilometers (120 miles) faster than Internet users downloaded the 300-megabyte video during an experiment in England, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The organizers of the experiment wanted to show that broadband access in some areas of the United Kingdom is still too slow. A BBC study in 2009 revealed that about three million households in the U.K. have Internet access at speeds lower than 2 Mbps.
According to the Yandex search engine, in 2009, Russia’s third home Internet users have high speed access to the Internet. The average speed of access in Moscow is 7,5 Mbit / s and in St. Petersburg is 6 Mbps. In other regions, the speed differs from 128 Kbps to 1 Mbps.
