A representative of the group of six nations negotiating with Iran on its controversial nuclear program may meet with an Iranian official in October, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday.
The Iran Six consists of Russia, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany
"According to preliminary plans, an Iranian representative may meet with one of the members of the group," Ahmadinejad told a news conference in New York.
Negotiations between Iran and the Iran Six came to a halt in 2009, after an IAEA resolution condemned the Islamic Republic over the construction of a second uranium enrichment facility.
In June, the UN Security Council passed a resolution imposing a fourth set of sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.
