Egyptian Investment Minister Mahmoud Mohieldin resigned from the government to assume a senior post at the World Bank, MENA official news agency said.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak accepted the resignation on Saturday.
Industry and Trade Minister Rashid Mohammed Rashid was appointed the acting investment minister. He will also retain and his former position.
Mohieldin served as the investment minister for 6 years.
At the new post, Mohieldin will oversee finance and private sector development; sustainable development; poverty reduction and economic management; human development; and the World Bank Institute, media said.
