The son of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has been appointed a general, the country’s state media said on Monday.
This is the first time that Kim Jong-un has been mentioned in public by state media in the secretive Communist country.
The move will fuel speculation that he is being groomed as a successor to his 68-year-old father, who is believed to be in poor health.
The announcement comes as North Korean capital of Pyongyang hosts the country’s biggest political meeting in decades.
Very little is known about Swiss-educated Kim Jong-un, apart from the fact that he is thought to be in his mid-20s.
