The second All-Russian census kicked off on Thursday in the country's Far East.
The population survey began in 40 remote areas of the Kamchatka Peninsula two weeks before the nationwide start of the census, and will continue until October 14, a spokesman for the local administration said.
The census, the second since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, will take place on October 14-25.
