Ukraine is close to finalizing an Association Agreement with the EU, President Viktor Yanukovych said on Wednesday.
"I am sure that we will come close to signing these agreements at the Ukraine-EU summit on November 22," Yanukovych said during talks with Slovakian President Ivan Gasparovic in Kiev.
The agreement will allow the creation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU. Yanukovich also aims to sign an agreement on the creation of visa-free regime.
Talks on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement stalled this summer over an agricultural row but resumed again earlier in the fall.
Yanukovych, who was elected to the presidential post in February, has made euro-integration a priority. He aims to make Ukraine EU associate member before the end of the year, although experts say it is unlikely to be achieved within the next two years.
