The Russian national side has arrived in Dublin for Friday’s vital Euro 2012 match against Ireland.

Russia, managed by Dutch trainer Dick Advocaat, are desperate to get their qualifying campaign back on course after a shock 1-0 home defeat to Slovakia next month.

“We’ll fight for the win, as only three points can help us take a big step on the path to the Euros,” Zenit striker Alexander Kerzhakov, recalled to the squad after some outstanding performances for his club, told Sport Express.

But former national side striker Alexander Panov was doubtful Russia would get the necessary result.

“I am not convinced at all that Russia will beat Ireland,” the man whose two goals in Paris helped Russia to a famous 3-2 Euro victory over France in 1999, said. “Everything will end badly.”

Ireland currently top Group B after two wins, with Slovakia second and Russia third.

The nine group winners and the best runner-up will qualify directly for the finals. The other eight runners-up will take part in home-and-away playoffs.

Ukraine and Poland automatically qualify for the finals as hosts.
