Two businessmen were shot dead in broad daylight in southern Moscow on Sunday, police sources told RIA Novosti.
"One of them was engaged in the construction business, and was the site supervisor for several construction projects. The second dead man was engaged in the purchase and supply of meat products to markets," one of the sources said.
The men were shot at about 12:50 on the tree-lined sidewalk of Simferopolsky Boulevard. They died at the scene. The gunmen fled in a car. Police have not located the shooters or their vehicle.
An acquaintance of the dead men told RIA Novosti he had no idea what the motive could have been.
"I know nothing about any threats to them," he said. "I have not heard that they were having any problems with business partners, including money-related ones."
Investigators have concluded their initial evidence-gathering at the scene and have interviewed a number of witnesses, but the police have yet to make any official comment.
