The first day of aerial reconnaissance in the Arctic showed there were no suitable ice floes for a Russian drifting station to land on. 11.10.2010, Sputnik International
Ice flow for a Russian drifting station in the Arctic was found on Sunday. It is located in the Chukchi Sea at 76.00.5N 175.34W and is 8 km by 12 km. It meets all the basic requirements.
Tested the sea waters – in the swimming pool. Water is pumped in straight from the sea, but is heated a bit (to some 30 degrees Celsius) so you literally swim in the Barents Sea today and tomorrow you're in the Laptev Sea. An amazing experience!
