Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych dismissed on Wednesday two deputy prime ministers from their posts in line with the recent changes to the country's constitution.
Viktor Slauta, who oversaw the agricultural sector, was given a new role as a presidential adviser while Volodymyr Syvkovych, responsible for the law enforcement sector, was appointed deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
Ukraine's Constitutional Court ruled on September 30 that changes to the constitution in 2004 were unconstitutional. The ruling returned a raft of powers to the presidency that had been transferred to parliament, including the right to appoint and dismiss ministers.
Under the 1996 constitution, the Ukrainian Cabinet must have three deputy prime ministers, while the Cabinet formed in March this year had five deputy premiers.
