Russia is unlikely to be able to sell more than 10 percent of Russian Railways, and not a quarter as the government plans, Transport Minister Igor Levitin said on Thursday.

Russia is unlikely to be able to sell more than 10 percent of Russian Railways, and not a quarter as the government plans, Transport Minister Igor Levitin said on Thursday.

"Other countries fail to sell such a large stake. This can be no more than 10 percent," Levitin said.

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov has said the state was ready to offer a 25 percent minus one share of Russian Railways in 2013-2015.

Levitin agreed with the timeframe, saying the stake might be sold before 2015 after all infrastructure projects have been completed.

Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin has said the state could sell up to 15 percent stake in the company via an initial public offering by 2013.
