Vehicle maker Renault-Nissan is in talks with Russia's biggest private investment bank Troika Dialog about buying its stake in the country's largest carmaker AvtoVAZ, Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn told TV news channel Russia Today on Thursday.
"We are planning to buy Troika's stake in AvtoVAZ and we are in talks about this," Ghosn said in an interview with Russia Today.
Ghosn said the alliance had not yet made any specific decision as it was in no hurry and still had time to think it over.
State-owned hi-tech conglomerate Russian Technologies, Troika and Renault each own 25 percent plus one share in AvtoVAZ.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in June Renault might increase its AvtoVAZ stake in exchange for the French government's share in Renault. Sergei Chemezov, Russian Technologies head, later said that "Renault was not yet ready for it", when asked about the possible share swap between Renault and AvtoVAZ.
