Candidates from Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's Party of Regions are dominating in the country's local and regional elections, an exit poll showed.
Yanukovych's party gathered 36.2 percent and opposition Batkyvshchina (Fatherland) party led by ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko is second with 13.1 percent.
Front of Changes party led by ex-speaker Arseny Yatsenyuk is third with 6.8 percent.
The polling stations closed at 22.00 p.m. local time.
CIS Interparliamentary Assembly observer mission to the regional elections in Ukraine has not noticed any major violations in the voting process, Alexander Torshin, Russian Federation Council's First Deputy Speaker and head of the mission, said.
However, Batkyvshchina party claimed mass violations at the elections, saying that from 20% to 30% of polling stations across Ukraine had not opened on time while local authorities failed to ensure normal organizational work on the day of voting.
Batkyvshchina party plans to challenge in court the results of the local elections in several regions, Mykola Tomenko, deputy head of the party said.
