AvtoVAZ, Russia's largest carmaker, increased its vehicle sales by 40.4 percent year-on-year to 418,010 cars from January to October 2010, the company said on Monday.
"In the first ten months of 2010, 418,010 Lada cars were sold on the domestic market, including 166,437 items sold under the car recycling program," the company said.
The "cash for clunkers" program allows automobile owners to trade in their old cars, if they are at least 10 years old, in exchange for a 50,000 ruble ($1,670) state certificate to help buy a new one.
In October 2010, AvtoVAZ's sales grew by 78.1 percent to 5,025 cars with sales under the recycling program rising 15 percent to 27,290 cars, compared to October 2009, the firm said.
