The Japanese Embassy in Russia confirmed that its ambassador Masaharu Kono was temporarily recalled over the recent trip of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to the South Kuril Islands.
“The ambassador is temporarily returning home to clear up the situation over the trip of the Russian president,” Japanese Embassy spokesman Akira Imamura said.
He did not say when the Japanese ambassador would return to Moscow.
