Russia's federal target program to develop education in 2011-2015 will be considered at a meeting of the government presidium Thursday.
Education and Science Minister Andrei Fursenko will be the key rapporteur.
The new program's key tasks are to upgrade the system of general and preschool education, bring professional education and training in line with the labor market demands, and develop a system to assess the quality of education.
Earlier Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said 157 billion rubles ($5.1bn) will be allocated to the program.
