A probe into the death of lawyer Sergey Magnitsky in a Moscow pretrial detention center last November, has been prolonged until February 24, 2011, a lawyer said on Monday.
Sergei Magnitsky, who was defending UK investment company Hermitage Capital Management against tax evasion charges, died after his pancreatitis was not attended to.
Investigators claim Magnitsky conspired with Hermitage Capital CEO Bill Browder to embezzle over $175 million from public funds.
Russia's Interior Ministry denied on Monday allegations of bribe-taking against investigators in the case. Corruption charges were brought against Artyom Kuznetsov and Pavel Karpov by Jamison Firestone, a former associate of Magnitsky.
