International Monetary Fund's assistance is crucial for Ukraine, the country's deputy prime minster, Serhiy Tihipko, said.
"We will not manage without the IMF," Tihipko said in an interview with Ukraine's Inter TV channel, adding that the economic situation in Ukraine is "very unstable" as the country has been struggling to overcome the consequences of the global economic crisis.
In July, the IMF approved a $15.15-billion standby loan for Ukraine "in support of the authorities' economic adjustment and reform program" following a request from Kiev.
Ukraine received the first $1.89-billion tranche from the IMF later in the month.
Earlier in November, an IMF commission visited Ukraine to examine how the country's authorities manage with the reforms and make a decision on the allocation of the second tranche to Ukraine. Kiev hopes to receive $1.6 billion from the IMF by the end of the year.
However, Ukraine may face difficulties in receiving the next tranche if the country's authorities don't meet the IMF's demand and raise the retirement age in Ukraine, Tihipko said.
