Iran has successfully test-fired a domestically designed air-defense system that has the same capabilities as the Russian-made S-300, a top Iranian military official said on Saturday.
The new-generation S-200 missile system was tested on the final day of a five-day exercise code-named Defenders of Velayat Skies, Brigadier General Mohammad Hassan Mansourian was quoted by Press TV as saying.
The exercise started on Tuesday with the aim of testing the country's air defense capabilities.
Iranian officials have said the drills "convey a message of peace and friendship to neighboring countries and a fierce warning to enemies."
