Seven of those eight crew members who were killed in time of the Il-76 cargo plane crash in Pakistan on early Sunday were Ukrainians, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
The eight crewmember killed in the crash was Russian national, Russia's consulate general in Karachi said.
The Russian-made plane crashed in the Pakistan's largest city of Karachi, killing all eight crewmembers, at least other four civilians, and destroying several buildings under construction.
The plane burst in flames shortly after a takeoff from the Karachi International Airport heading for Khartoum, Sudan, and went down in an upscale housing complex for naval officers.
A bird strike is the likely cause for the crash. "Two weeks ago, in accordance with maintenance procedures, the aircraft underwent a technical check. It was in an ideal condition while the crew had an 18-hour rest before the flight. The likely cause was the damage of the aircraft engine caused by a bird strike," Dzhemal Tamazashvili, director of the Georgian airline Sun Way, the operator of the aircraft, said.
