Two militants were killed in a special operation in Russia's volatile North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for the National Antiterrorist Committee said on Sunday.
One of the militants was identified as Abdulmumin Abdulmuminov, former imam of a mosque in Kyzlyar district.
In May 2010, Abdulmuminov went into hiding, the source said, adding that the former imam was one of the ideologists of the Caucasus militants.
The identity of the second militant is still to be established.
