Turning Moscow into a global financial center is the main task of the city authorities, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Tuesday.
While commenting on President Dmitry Medvedev's address to parliament earlier Tuesday, Sobyanin said the Russian leader's speech concerned Moscow in particular.
The city chief explained that the establishment of a financial center would require work on "infrastructure, roads, healthcare, education, culture etc. - everything that makes up a normal city environment."
Sobyanin replaced long-serving Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, who was fired in late September by Medvedev over a "loss of confidence."
