Uzbekistan highly values its relations with the United States and is committed to strengthening them, Uzbek President Islam Karimov said on Thursday.
"I am greatly satisfied with the dynamics and nature of bilateral cooperation in the spirit of partnership and mutual understanding," he said during a meeting with visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Karimov said he had recently exchanged letters with President Barack Obama "with regard to strengthening our bilateral ties."
Clinton reiterated the U.S. administration's adherence to principles of mutual respect in bilateral relations with Uzbekistan.
According to the Uzbek State Statistics Service, in the first nine months of the current year bilateral trade was worth $130.3 million.
