Russian state-controlled power trader Inter RAO and Italy's energy group Enel have signed a memorandum of partnership intentions after a meeting between Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Friday.
An Inter RAO official told RIA Novosti the two companies planned to improve cooperation in renewable energy, study international practices, agree compensatory mechanisms, and consider joint projects in wind energy, both in Russia and the CIS countries.
Inter RAO and Enel agreed to develop a regulatory base for the utilization of thermal power plants waste, and plan to consider purchasing coal deposits to supply the stations, Inter RAO said. Enel would also audit Inter RAO's power stations to improve their efficiency.
