Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin outlined transport development, improving living standards and healthcare as priority areas for city policy in 2011.
"First of foremost, we want to make Moscow a comfortable city to live for families with children, young people, pensioners, veterans and the handicapped," Sobyanin said during a discussion on the city's draft budget for 2011.
The mayor said he wants to make Moscow a city with decent salaries and high social and healthcare standards and called for the modernization of the city's housing and utilities sector.
Sobyanin has highlighted solving the city's notorious transport problems as a priority. He said about 8 billion rubles (about $266 million) will be allocated from city's budget in 2011 to build more parking lots and garages.
