Two rare snowy owls fell unconscious on the deck of a vessel in the Sea of Okhotsk during a storm. The sailors took them to a zoo in Vladivostok, Russia’s Far East, the head of the zoo said.
“The sailors said the two weak large birds fell off the deck of a vessel during a storm in the Sea of Okhotsk. The crew members saved the owls and even put them in a separate cabin,” Sergei Asnovin said.
He said the snowy owls were feeling ‘well’ at the zoo. “They love eating rats, rabbits and an ox heart. This food is expensive, but necessary for raptors,” Asnovin said.
