A Mi-8 helicopter crashed on the Russian Arctic Yamal peninsula, killing the crew commander and injuring 15 passengers, the Russian Aviation Committee (Rosaviatsia) said on Sunday.
There were 15 passengers and three crewmembers aboard the helicopter. "The passengers received injuries of various degree of gravity while the crew commander was killed," Rosavatsia said.
The Mi-8 helicopter owned by Yamal air company crashed while approaching the Bovanenkovo gas field, which Russian energy giant Gazprom is developing.
