Russian architects have unveiled a concept to build Russia's first "active" eco-house some 20 kilometers outside Moscow in 2011, the project's initiator said on Tuesday.
This is the seventh Model Home 2020 experiment in Europe launched by the Dutch Velux Group to develop environmentally friendly buildings for the future with optimum energy efficiency.
Two "active" eco-houses were built in Denmark in late 2009 and this year the construction of houses of the future was launched in Britain, Germany, Austria and France.
"An active house represents a complex system aimed to reach the balance between energy saving, comfortable living and aesthetics," the Velux Group and its developing company Zagorodny Proekt said in a statement.
The eco-house will have a terrace, balcony and mezzanine. It will be constructed in a west-east direction and will have a sloping roof in the south containing solar panels to generate electricity.
The ultra-efficient house will have an "active front" that moves depending on the weather and demands of the family. Temperature and heating will be automatically controlled by computer systems.
The house's foundation was laid in September. Located in an area of 700 square meters, the eco-home will have 180 square meters of floor space. It will be open to the public for several months.
